Sometimes creativity is rewarded with accolades, usually associated with finely crafted, intricate pattern making and tailoring techniques, as well as great sensitivity to color and texture through the choice and special production of fine textiles... sometimes however it's met with a giant middle finger. thus is the case with the fall 2008 collection from the House of Holland. Imagine the self love involved in creating a company to stroke ones own ego and then employing a Cher from clueless/urban outfitters theme for "design" ... now multiply this beast of ego maniacal London youth culture by the success of British runway goddess agyness deyn and add a heavy helping of boring... you'll get Henry Holland of the the House of Holland... don't worry, your eyes doth not deceive you...

yup.. it's a tiered floor length bridal kilt with a matching eye patch and plaid wrapped antlers. IT'S CALLED HOT LADIES... and in case you can't detect my sarcasm, this falls squarely in the category of disgusting beyond all reason. Sarah Mower of vogue was a bit kinder in remarking "For all his boisterousness, Holland, a former writer for the teen mag Bliss [go f-ing figure], is pushing himself to prove his capabilities as a designer—or more accurately, since he never went to fashion school, as an orchestrator who gets other people to help him make things he likes for a show." she goes on to describe the show as "mini-kilts in tartan and pink or black mohair knit; skinny tartan trews with kilt buckles displaced to the ankle; and, in a clever morphing of two British classics, a trench-kilt hybrid that looked not just amusing but viably sellable."

Now hold on a moment Sarah Mower? would not this kind summation negate the obvious... that this is possibly the most horrid and overplayed theme in the last 30 years of British fashion design? well that's just the plaid i guess...
